NFL Moves to Make Super Bowl Greener

It'll be a cleaner, greener Super Bowl come February. To help offset greenhouse-gas emissions from the game, the NFL is planting thousands of trees in Arizona forests blackened by wildfires. The league will coordinate the donation of thousands of pounds of unserved food from Super Bowl events to local soup kitchens and homeless shelters. And it will power University of Phoenix Stadium and the adjacent NFL theme park with clean energy sources, from New Mexico wind turbines to California geothermal plants.

CNN's "Planet in Peril"

LOS ANGELES - This Halloween season, if you want to watch something truly scary, try "Planet in Peril," a two-night, four-hour special that aired on CNN. This is not to say that correspondents Anderson Cooper, meteorologist Sanjay Gupta or Animal Planet's Jeff Corwin try to frighten viewers. Far from it. They report from around the world in a straightforward, even restrained, fashion. It's just that what they have to say about what's happening to the planet is very unsettling.

Discovery Sees Planet Green in 70 million Homes

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Discovery Communications said on Wednesday it expects to reach as many as 70 million homes with its upcoming Planet Green cable network within three years of its launch, up from a start of 52 million.

The Making of 'The 11th Hour'

By all the hype over "The 11th Hour" -- the latest Earth-in-crisis documentary it would seem that Leonardo DiCaprio's celluloid crusade is a one-man show. The guy did co-produce, co-write and narrate. Although uncredited, he also spent long nights in the editing bay, pruning the 150 hours of interviews and days of stock footage down to 91 minutes.

An Inconvenient Truth

The Green Book

Humanity is sitting on a ticking time bomb. If the vast majority of the world's scientists are right, we have just ten years to avert a major catastrophe that could send our entire planet into a tail-spin of epic destruction involving extreme weather, floods, droughts, epidemics and killer heat waves beyond anything we have ever experienced. If that sounds like a recipe for serious gloom and doom -- think again.

Ellen DeGeneres, Robert Redford, Will Ferrell, Jennifer Aniston, Faith Hill, Tim McGraw, Martha Stewart, Tyra Banks, Dale Earnhardt, Jr., Tiki Barber, Owen Wilson, and Justin Timberlake provide you their simple solutions on how they make a difference to the environment.
